In early 2020, my friends and I decided to start a football club.
Two years later in Burlington, Vermont Green FC kicked off its inaugural season in USL League Two.
My co-founders started the club because we believe in the power of sports to shape society. We believe soccer can be a powerful catalyst for a more environmentally sustainable and socially just world.
It was my job to create a crest and branding system that represented these lofty ideals, while also feeling approachable and friendly. I wanted a crest that celebrated the natural beauty of Vermont, and captured the joy and human connectivity that the beautiful game of soccer brings to the world.
I embraced a robust range of greens in the color palette, and playful, earth-y imagery (did you notice the mountain is smiling). I had to get a little funky with it. This is minor league sports after all. Why not have some fun?
I wrote about the crest design process. You can read my piece here.
